The crop and shorter hairstyles are coming back into fashio, more women will be swapping to a shorter crop in 2007 and the trend has already begun.

Short hairstyles and crops have never really been away, however they are back not only are they sexy and stylish they also are low maintenance and give any women a sense of freedom.

The crop hairstyle has been popular over the years and is nothing new.

In the 1920's it was seen as the height of fashion and Twiggy became a superstar and launched millions of imitators in the sixties with her distinctive hairstyle.

Women now could do what they wanted and sexual and female liberation continued from here.

Many stars would be setting trends in short hair in the coming decades, so its never really been away.

Remember Linda Evangelista's short hair? There are of course many more examples in the intervening period and there will be more women now adopting this style

The revival in the crop

Short hair got its exposure recently when the model Agyness Deyn cut her hair into a stunning platinum crop and inspired by 80s model Jenny Howarth.

Her career took off, many other fashion models have followed suit and short cropped hair can be seen on the covers of the major fashion magazines such as Vogue.

Recent fashion shows have also been pushing the crop hairstyle.

Why Crop?

There are two main reasons women go for short hair.

1. Its liberating

Women use the crop as a statement and numerous women when they divorce break up with their partner or encounter other important events.

They use the new look to signal a new beginning and a new confidence in their life.

2. The ultimate in convenience.

You can simply wash and go and keeping your hair looking great is easy.

You will save a lot of time with the crop and for many busy women today, that's a huge advantage.

Does face shape matter?

Not really, simply because there are so many crops and short hairstyles to choose from and your stylist will advice on which one is best.

They can show you where to soften your features if you don't have the perfect bone structure.

Fashionable Long Hairstyles For Men

[caption id="attachment_45" align="aligncenter" width="349" caption="Long Hairstyle for Men"]Long Hairstyle for Men[/caption]

Goodbye Skinhead

Gone are the skinhead, jailbird-look days, when you where a sissy or member of a 60's British boy band if you strutted a longer than average hairstyle. Men are growing more and more aware of trends and latest fashions including 2009 long hairstyles for men.

No Punk Styles
Please keep in mind that punk styles are no longer fashion and it does not strictly fall within the long hairstyle category.

Keep it Natural
Keeping it natural is key, not natural scare crow or caveman. By natural I mean nothing over the top in term of cut, style and color. Urban look is very in at the moment. However nothing longer than shoulder length. If you prefer a little more texture, then opt for medium-long shag with or without layers. Scissors are not used to create shag or layered look but rather razors. Spiking of the hair to create the "bed-head" look is still very much in fashion. The secret here lies in the getting the look just right by appearing messy while being clean.

Face Shape
When deciding on the perfect hairstyle take your face shape into consideration. A long hairstyle definitely does not suit every shape face and thus not every man. Draw inspiration and ideas from internet, movies (current, please), television and magazines from people who have the same face shape or bone structure as yours. A Jay Leno hairstyle will not work on David Beckham. Ask your hairdresser or stylist for advice. He or she will know what is in the height of fashion.

Grooming Tips
Use only the best quality shampoo's, conditioners and care products on the market. Preferable Salon Endorsed products as you want to limit breakage, split ends and increase health, manageability and shine. Please use water and soap regularly as there is no greater turn-off than a greasy head. If you are not big on hygiene, than forget about long hair. You will unfortunately have to visit your hairdresser more if you boast with a longer hairstyle as trims are essential to keep hair in top condition.
